Have you considered that, like everything else, money is energy? It is said that more money makes a person more of what s/he already is. If you come into significant wealth, you will see your values and thoughts reflected even more powerfully in your actions.
I often hear people say things like: “His nouveau-riche status spoiled him!” Or “She got a taste of money and then went after her siblings for a bigger chunk!” But, if you dig a little deeper, you will discover that he was always a little lazy, and she was always a little selfish.
Money is energy, and it makes you more of what you already are. This is why, before seeking it, we must be intentional about who we choose to be and what we value. Building wealth is not a one-shot deal, even for those who are blessed with a one-shot “win” or gift.
People who were unprepared, who hadn’t developed a sense about money and its place in their value system, and who made a series of thoughtless decisions caused the “lottery curse”. This is the belief that, with great financial winnings, come even greater losses. Lottery winnings have led to families being torn apart, people being thrown (literally) under the bus, people ending up homeless and drugged out of their minds, etc. What is this lottery curse?
It is the curse of… for lack of a better word… stupidity.
Money is energy, and it makes you more of what you already are.
If you surround yourself with greedy people, more money will bring out more greed. If you choose to spend every last dime you make, you will spend every last dime no matter how big the pot. If you fight with people about money, you will fight with your own family about it. You will be that person who loses her brother for some dollar bills. Don’t be that person.
In the same light, if you choose to do good with your money, you will contribute even more to your causes. If you are a sensible saver, you will be even more attuned to the fact that money comes and money goes, no matter how big the pot. If you share your money and use it to create good memories for your family, it will bring your family closer, and that is the true wealth in this life.
Many spend their days dreaming of the miraculous moment when they will be awarded great wealth. For proof of this, check out the lottery pool for this week in your community. But, in truth, how many of us are prepared to receive this wealth we dream of?
You may ask: “why plan ahead for something that will probably never happen? I’ve never had a big break!” If you have asked this question, you are right. It won’t ever happen, and you won’t see the big break even if it smacked you between the eyes.
On the other hand, you may think: “whether it happens through a big win or through my deliberate hard work and investments, I will become wealthier and so I should be prepared to receive that wealth and I should be intentional about how I’m going to manage it.” If you thought this, you are also right. It will happen sooner than you imagine. Good for you.
What we think, we become.
Money is energy, and it makes us more of what we already are.
Food for thought.
And remember… we design our own luck!
